Commas are 1β2 second pauses β your phone auto-navigates the menu on each redial.
California Paid Family Leave (PFL) is a state-funded program that provides partial wage replacement when you take time off from work to bond with a new child or to care for a seriously ill family member. It's part of the SDI program and is funded through employee payroll deductions β you've been paying into it with every paycheck.
PFL pays 60β70% of your average weekly wages (up to a maximum) for up to 8 weeks per 12-month period. Unlike job protection (which comes from CFRA or FMLA), PFL only provides the pay β you should coordinate with your employer separately about leave approval.
New PFL claims and most status updates can be handled online at SDI Online (myedd.edd.ca.gov) β no phone call needed for straightforward cases.
EDD Hold dials 1-877-238-4373, navigates the PFL menu automatically, secures your place in the hold queue, and calls you back when a live PFL agent is on the line. You don't have to sit there.
Sessions are $9.99 per connection. If we can't connect you, you get a full refund.
We dial, navigate the menu, and call you when an agent is ready. Average connection time: 40 minutes. No app needed.

File online at SDI Online (myedd.edd.ca.gov) or by mail using DE 2501F (bonding) or DE 2501FP (care). For bonding claims, you can file within 41 days of the start of your leave. For care claims, you need a physician's medical certification completed by the ill family member's doctor. EDD typically processes claims within 2β3 weeks.
PFL itself only provides pay β it does not guarantee job protection. Job protection comes from separate laws: CFRA (California Family Rights Act) for employers with 5+ employees, or federal FMLA for employers with 50+ employees. Many employees can take job-protected leave under CFRA/FMLA while collecting PFL pay simultaneously.
Yes. California PFL can be taken on an intermittent or reduced schedule basis, not just in one continuous block. You must coordinate with your employer on the schedule, and your benefits will be proportional to the hours taken. Call 1-877-238-4373 to discuss your specific situation with an agent.
